An Ode to Ontario Tourism
I’ll keep this brief. Thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
It was not easy for you, Ontario tourism. When we were suddenly unable to travel internationally, an unprecedented number of Ontarians decided to explore our own backyard – a backyard you have been taking care of for us for generations. It was not easy for you, when we came in droves, looking for some reprieve from the confines of our 4 walls during a global pandemic. The responsibility of giving us city-folk a little something to brighten our souls, fell on you – and despite all the chaos, confusion, extra rules, and limitations, you delivered for us. You provided for us in a way that kept us all healthy and safe. You introduced us to kayaking, camping, rock climbing, canoeing, hiking, cabins in the woods and fishing – and you helped us to truly appreciate the beauty of nature, and all that Northern Ontario has to offer.
For some of us, it may be the first time we have explored a little closer to home, but thanks to you – it will not be the last. And to be honest, we have you to thank for making sure it was there for us in the first place.
So, on behalf of everyone, see you soon, Ontario tourism. Thanks for the memories, and for being there when we needed you the most.
Happy New Years.
